I don't get it. Before the cross country started, the sky was already turning dark. Rain was even coming down, though in a small amount, but in heavy drops. People with common sense should know by then that there is an oncoming downpour.
But noo...when the concerns were raised, the teachers said that "as long as there is no thunder and lightning, you all still can run"
So ok..we ran, and a short while later....guess what? *drumrolls*
THE HEAVY DOWNPOUR WENT VVVVVVVVVRRRRRRRRRRRRRROOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMM SSSSSSSSSSSPPPPPPPPPPPPPIIIIIISSSSSSSSSSHHHHHHHHHHH ON US.
I can hardly see the gravelly path that is in front of me. And I'm having my period, which is like, super uncomfortable. PLUS my mp3 got soaked.
Great...I was thinking to myself. I could not have been stuck in a worse situation. There CAN BE ABSOLUTELY NOTHING that is worse then this. But I was wrong. Because as soon as I muttered that angrily to myself, lightning striked and thunder roared.
Great. There I was, the tallest girl among all the other girls in sight, merrily standing there asking the lightning to fry me to a crisp. I was a damn pathetic sight man. Hair wet and hanging about in unsightly strands, T-shirt transparent cos of the rain, (thus exposing what's underneath it. Don't even get me started on how my bra looked.) dirty legs cos of the mud on the path, and with my specs slipping down my nose.
What a glamourous look.
And the damned thing is, the teachers were at the checkpoints, telling us to run faster. And they were holding umbrellas over their own heads.
I'D LIKE TO SEE YOU RUNNING IN THAT RAIN, SCREW YOU.
I'm seriously frustrated. We've already said that there might be a heavy rain, but the school REFUSED to listen and assured us that it was perfectly alright. Do you know how truamatising it is to run in that heavy downpour, with lightning striking about your feet and thunder roaring into your ears every few seconds?
But not all teachers are that horrible. Mr Ong was at the finish line, and when he saw me plus my thunderous sulky face (to match the weather you see), he asked me if I was alright and even offered me his umbrella. he's a nice teacher really. The only few who've ever shown compassion. Who really seemed like they really care about the students. We definitely could do with more teachers like that.
I need a strong, super concentrated cup of hot chocalate to calm my nerves down, seriously.
